There’s something truly special about Fall in North Missouri. The crisp, cool air carries the scent of harvested fields and bonfire smoke. The leaves transform into a breathtaking display of reds, oranges, and golds, painting the landscape in a way that feels almost magical. And for our farming family, this season means more than just a change in the weather—it’s a time of reflection, hard work, and gratitude.

By mid-October, we’re deep into harvest season. The combines roll through the fields, harvesting the grains of a year’s worth of labor. The long days and late nights are demanding, but there’s a deep satisfaction in seeing months of dedication and faith turn into full grain bins and healthy livestock.

Fall isn’t just about work—it’s about tradition. It’s about warming up with a cup of coffee before sunrise, pulling on a favorite hoodie, and feeling that first true bite of cold in the air. It’s about family meals around the dinner table after a long day in the fields, sharing stories and laughter while enjoying home-cooked meals and great stories from the Day.

It’s also hunting season, a time when we slow down just enough to appreciate the stillness of the woods. Sitting in a tree stand as the morning fog lifts, watching the leaves fall to the ground—it’s these moments that remind us why we love this land and the life we live.

And as the days grow shorter and the nights a little colder, we’re reminded that Fall is fleeting. It’s a season that doesn’t last long, but while it’s here, it brings out the best of the Midwest—hard work, deep-rooted traditions, and an appreciation for the simple life and the beauty of nature.

So, as we soak in these golden October days, we’re grateful for all that Fall brings—the harvest, the family time, the traditions, and the reminder that there’s no place quite like home.

Until next time, we'll be giving you more updates From the Farm.
