Why Tallow?
Before petroleum-based moisturizers existed, humans used animal fat to nourish their skin. Tallow isn't a trend — it's a return to what has always worked. Here's everything you need to know.

What It Is
Tallow is rendered beef fat. That's it.
Tallow has been used for thousands of years — by pioneers, homesteaders, and every generation before synthetic skincare existed. It's made by slowly rendering the fat of grass-fed cattle until pure, shelf-stable, and ready to use. What you get is a dense, nutrient-rich moisturizer with a fatty acid profile that's remarkably similar to your own skin.
Our tallow comes from the same grass-fed cattle we raise and sell through McBee Meat Company — right here in Missouri. We know exactly what our animals eat, how they live, and how they're raised. That traceability matters. Most tallow skincare brands can't say that.
The Science
Skin recognizes what it already knows.
Human skin is composed largely of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids — the same fatty acid profile found in grass-fed beef tallow. This structural similarity means tallow absorbs quickly, doesn't sit on top of the skin, and integrates with your skin's natural barrier rather than coating over it.
~50%
Oleic acid (omega-9)
The same fatty acid that dominates healthy human sebum
A, D, E, K
Fat-soluble vitamins
Naturally present in grass-fed tallow, all bioavailable to the skin
Deep Moisture
Penetrates to the deeper layers of the dermis rather than sitting on the surface like most synthetic moisturizers.
Barrier Support
Strengthens and restores the skin's natural lipid barrier, reducing transepidermal water loss and calming reactive skin.
Fat-Soluble Vitamins
Naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K — all delivered in a fat-soluble form that skin can actually absorb and use.
Non-Comedogenic
Despite being a fat, tallow rarely clogs pores. Its fatty acid profile closely mirrors the skin's own oil, making it suitable for most skin types.
Tallow vs. The Alternative
What most skincare is actually made of.
The modern skincare industry replaced time-tested ingredients with cheaper, industrial alternatives — most derived from petroleum byproducts or chemically refined seed oils. These ingredients are shelf-stable and inexpensive to produce. But novel is not the same as better.

How It's Made
Three steps. No shortcuts.
Every jar of our whipped tallow face cream starts on our farm and is made by hand in small batches. No industrial processing. No mystery ingredients. Just the real thing.
Raise & Source
We raise 100% grass-fed cattle on our family farm in Missouri. The same cattle we sell through McBee Meat Company. When beef is processed, the suet fat — the highest quality fat surrounding the organs — is reserved and kept cold until rendering begins.
Slow Render
The suet fat is slow-rendered at low heat — a process that separates the pure fat from any remaining tissue. This produces a clean, ivory-white tallow that is naturally shelf-stable, odor-neutral, and packed with bioavailable nutrients.
Whip & Blend
Once cooled, the tallow is whipped to a light, airy texture and blended with our five complementary ingredients — Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil, Frankincense, Lavender, and Vanilla. Each one chosen to enhance what tallow already does naturally. Then hand-packed into every jar.

Our Sourcing
From our farm.
Not a factory.
Most tallow skincare brands source commodity tallow from industrial supply chains and slap a clean label on it. We do it differently. Our tallow is rendered from grass-fed cattle raised on our own family farm in Missouri — the same cattle we sell through McBee Meat Company. We know exactly what our animals eat, how they live, and how they're raised.
Grass-fed matters because the nutritional profile of the fat changes based on what the animal eats. Grass-finished cattle produce fat measurably higher in omega-3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and fat-soluble vitamins than grain-fed alternatives. That difference shows up in the final product.
Common Questions
Questions we hear most often.
Does tallow smell like beef?
Properly rendered grass-fed tallow has a very mild, almost neutral scent — nothing like raw meat. We also blend ours with essential oils that complement the base. Most customers notice no animal scent at all.
Will it clog my pores?
This is the most common concern, and the answer is usually no. Because tallow's fatty acid profile mirrors your skin's own sebum, it tends to absorb rather than sit on the surface. Many customers with acne-prone or oily skin find it actually improves skin balance over time.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Tallow is one of the most well-tolerated skincare ingredients available. Customers with eczema, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, and extreme dryness consistently report improvement. Because our formula contains so few ingredients, identifying a reaction source — if one ever occurs — is simple.
Is tallow sustainable?
Tallow is a byproduct of beef production — it would otherwise be discarded or used in industrial applications. Using it for skincare is a whole-animal philosophy. Nothing is wasted. Combined with our grass-fed regenerative ranching practices, our tallow is about as traceable and low-waste as skincare gets.
How is this different from other tallow skincare brands?
We own the farm. We raise the cattle. We render the tallow. Most brands in this space are sourcing commodity tallow from distributors and packaging it with a ranch-adjacent aesthetic. Ours is the real thing — which means the story, the sourcing, and the product quality are all verifiable and traceable to a real family and a real piece of land.
How do I use it and how much do I need?
A little goes a long way. Warm a small pea-sized amount between your fingertips and press it gently into clean, slightly damp skin. The warmth from your hands softens the tallow and helps it absorb quickly. Most customers find that one jar lasts 2-3 months with daily use. Start with less than you think you need — you can always add more.
Can I use it around my eyes or on my lips?
Yes — tallow is one of the gentlest ingredients you can use on delicate skin. Many of our customers use it as an eye cream, for under-eye dryness, and as a lip balm. Because our formula has so few ingredients, the risk of irritation is minimal. We'd still recommend patch testing if you have very reactive skin.
