From the Farm: Lambing Season is in Full Swing
Right now on the farm, new lives are being born every single day. We are officially in the thick of lambing season, and that means long days, late nights, and plenty of time spent in the barns making sure our newest additions get the best possible start in life.
Last week’s bitter cold snap sent several of our ewes into labor, and since then, it’s been a full-time effort making sure each newborn lamb is safe, warm, and protected from the elements. The team has been working around the clock, checking on the mamas, ensuring each lamb gets up and nurses, and keeping fresh bedding in the barns to make sure they stay cozy despite the unpredictable Missouri weather.
Thankfully, every single lamb so far has been born perfectly healthy. There’s nothing quite like the sight of a wobbly little lamb taking its first steps or the sound of ewes calling softly to their babies. It’s one of those things that never gets old, no matter how many seasons we’ve been through. These little lambs are such a neat part of McBee Farms - and we enjoy every minute of watching them take their first steps.
Lambing season may be exhausting, but it’s also one of the most rewarding times of the year. There’s something special about knowing that, despite the long hours and the late-night checks, we’re raising the next generation of our farm one lamb at a time.
We'll see you soon (with several more lambs), From the Farm
