The Work's Been Ramping Up!
After a long winter of cold temperatures, snow, and frozen water tanks, warmer days have finally arrived—and that means it’s time to move our cattle to back to our main Spring pastures. There’s no better feeling than watching the herds step onto green grass for the first time in months, knowing they’re leaving behind the dry hay and muddy feedlots of winter.
We've spent a lot of time on horseback over the last couple weeks, moving herds around - checking on the soon-to-be momma's, and just making sure we're prepped and ready for a new crop of calves to arrive. There’s just something about working cattle from the back of a horse that feels right—it’s the way it’s been done for generations, and it’s a tradition we take pride in keeping alive.
Since last week - we've had over 15 new calves born, and only had to pull 3 thus far, making it a successful Spring Calving Season ... With plenty more on the way!
The pastures are coming back to life, the air is warmer, and the sound of calves bawling for their mamas fills the fields. Spring is always a season of renewal on the farm, and moving the cattle is one of those moments that reminds us why we love what we do.
Here’s to longer days, greener grass, and another great season ahead!
