Most honey on grocery store shelves has been heated, ultra-filtered, and blended from multiple countries until it barely resembles what came out of the hive. Ours hasn't. Here's the difference.

Straight From the Hive
Less Than 15 Minutes From Our Farm.
Our honey comes from a family-run apiary just down the road from McBee Farms — less than 15 minutes away. We know exactly where it comes from, how it's handled, and what goes into every jar. Which is to say: nothing but honey.
It's raw, unfiltered, and never heated above hive temperature. That means every enzyme, antioxidant, natural pollen particle, and antibacterial compound that the bees put into it is still in your jar when it arrives at your door.
That's not something you can say about the squeeze bear bottle at the grocery store.

McBee Raw Honey vs. Commercial Honey
Not all honey is created equal. Most people don't realize what's actually in the bottle they buy at the store.

🌡️
Pasteurization Destroys the Good Stuff
Commercial honey is heated to 160°F+ during pasteurization — killing natural enzymes, destroying antioxidants, and eliminating the antibacterial properties that make raw honey so valuable.
🧪
Ultra-Filtration Removes Natural Pollen
Commercial honey is ultra-filtered to remove all pollen — making it nearly impossible to trace the source. Pollen is also one of honey's most beneficial components.
🌍
Often Imported & Blended
A significant portion of commercial honey sold in the US is imported from overseas, blended from multiple sources, and sometimes adulterated with corn syrup — yet labeled simply as "honey."
What They Don't Tell You
Most Store Honey Isn't Really Raw Honey.
The honey in most grocery stores has been processed, heated, and filtered to the point where many of its natural benefits have been significantly reduced or eliminated. It looks like honey. It tastes sweet. But it's not the same thing.
Raw honey straight from the hive contains natural enzymes, propolis, bee pollen, antioxidants, and antimicrobial compounds that have been used for thousands of years. Pasteurization destroys most of that.
Our honey never gets heated above hive temperature. What the bees made is what you get.
Why Raw Honey Wins
6 Reasons This Honey Is Different
🐝
Natural Enzymes Intact
Raw honey contains diastase, invertase, and glucose oxidase — enzymes that support digestion and are responsible for many of honey's health properties. Pasteurization destroys them. Ours doesn't.
🛡️
Naturally Antibacterial
Raw honey produces hydrogen peroxide and contains defensin-1 — natural antibacterial compounds used for wound care and immune support for thousands of years. Heat destroys these properties.
🌸
Rich in Antioxidants
Raw honey is loaded with flavonoids and phenolic acids — powerful antioxidants that help neutralize free radicals. These compounds are largely destroyed in processed honey.
🌻
Natural Pollen Present
Bee pollen is one of the most nutritionally complete foods in nature — packed with proteins, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Our honey retains it. Commercial ultra-filtered honey removes it entirely.
📍
Locally Sourced
Less than 15 minutes from McBee Farms. We know the beekeeper, we know the land, we know the flowers those bees are working. That traceability is something no commercial honey brand can offer.
✅
One Ingredient
Raw honey. That's it. No corn syrup, no additives, no blending from multiple countries, no ultra-filtration. Just pure honey exactly as it came out of the hive.
Ways to Use It
Raw Honey Works for Everything.
☕
Coffee & Tea
Stir a spoonful into your morning coffee or tea instead of refined sugar. Raw honey adds natural sweetness with actual nutritional value — not just empty calories.
🥩
Glazing Meats
Brush over chicken, pork, or ribs during the last few minutes of cooking for a caramelized, sticky glaze. Raw honey's complex sugars create a better crust and deeper flavor.
🧁
Baking
Substitute raw honey for sugar in baked goods — it adds moisture, natural sweetness, and a subtle floral complexity that refined sugar can't replicate. Use about ¾ cup per cup of sugar.
🫙
Straight from the Jar
Drizzle over yogurt, oatmeal, cheese boards, or toast. Or just eat it by the spoonful — something that's genuinely worth doing when the honey is this good.
🌿
Natural Remedy
A spoonful in warm water with lemon has been used for centuries to soothe sore throats and support immunity. The antibacterial and antioxidant properties make it genuinely useful — not just comforting.
💆
Skincare
Raw honey's antibacterial and humectant properties make it a powerful skincare ingredient. Use as a face mask, spot treatment, or mix into your skincare routine for natural moisture and bacteria control.

Frequently Asked Questions
Got Questions? We've Got Answers.
What makes raw honey different from regular honey?+
Raw honey is honey in its natural state — straight from the hive with minimal processing. It retains all of its natural enzymes, antioxidants, pollen, and antibacterial compounds. Commercial honey is typically heated and ultra-filtered, which destroys most of these beneficial properties and makes it little more than a sweetener.
Why does raw honey sometimes crystallize?+
Crystallization is a natural process that happens in real, unprocessed honey — and it's actually a sign of quality. It means your honey hasn't been ultra-heated or over-processed. Simply place the jar in warm (not hot) water and stir gently until it returns to liquid. Never microwave it — that destroys the enzymes. Commercial honey is processed to prevent crystallization, which is one reason it's less nutritious.
Where does your honey come from?+
Our honey comes from a family-run apiary less than 15 minutes from McBee Farms in the Midwest. We know the beekeeper personally and trust the sourcing completely — the same standard we hold for everything with our name on it. The bees are working local Midwest wildflowers, which gives our honey its rich, complex flavor profile.
Is raw honey safe for everyone?+
Raw honey is safe for most people, but should never be given to infants under 12 months old due to the risk of infant botulism. This applies to all honey — raw or pasteurized. For everyone else, raw honey is a natural food that has been consumed safely for thousands of years. If you have specific health concerns or allergies to bee products, consult your healthcare provider.
How should I store raw honey?+
Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Raw honey never truly expires — archaeologists have found 3,000-year-old honey in Egyptian tombs that was still edible. Keep the lid tight and avoid introducing moisture into the jar. No refrigeration needed — cold temperatures actually speed up crystallization.
Can I cook with raw honey without destroying its benefits?+
Some heat-sensitive enzymes will be reduced when raw honey is cooked at high temperatures. For maximum nutritional benefit, use raw honey unheated — stirred into cold drinks, drizzled over food, or eaten straight. For cooking and baking, it's still a far superior choice to refined sugar or commercial honey in terms of flavor and natural composition.

I've bought raw honey from health food stores before but this is on a completely different level. The flavor is so much richer and more complex — you can actually taste the difference between real honey and the stuff that's been heated and filtered to death. This is the real thing.

I've been trying to source everything as locally as possible and this checked every box. Raw, unfiltered, no additives, and I actually know where it came from. It crystallized slightly after a few weeks which I know means it's the real deal. Put it in warm water for a minute and it was perfect. Won't buy honey anywhere else.

My kids are obsessed with this honey. We put it on everything — toast, oatmeal, in their tea when they're sick. My youngest had a sore throat last week and a spoonful of this with some lemon and warm water had her feeling better within the hour. I know that sounds like an exaggeration but I genuinely believe it's because this honey still has everything in it that makes honey special.

This is my forth jar of honey and I can’t say enough about this product!!! I order it and keep this stocked by the jars and I absolutely love it!! I especially love knowing that it is so much healthier than store bought honey!! The taste is superb! The first time I tasted it I couldn’t believe the difference between this and store bought! Trust me you will absolutely love this honey and it lasts a very very long time!
2 stars for shipping. One jar of honey had leaked inside the bubble wrap and box was left half empty, extra stuffing so breakable items would shift around during transport. Specially to heavy jars of honey.
And no way of contacting seller other than writing a review.
When the two jars arrived I had to have a taste. The best honey I have ever had. My son asked, is that the honey from the McBees and I said yes. I had a few tastes and he loved it. The first jar was gone in two days.
Thank you McBees! Keep up the good work.
This honey is crystallized . I know it is still good but very hard to work with. Each time I have to put it in hot water and wait. I bought 3 jars and very unhappy with it
What a difference between this honey and store bought! I will never use another honey again except for McBees Farm! I know it’s pure and really so so good!
I’ve been needing more honey and was excited to see you were making some. I know local honey is always best, and although I’m a bit far away, I still feel confident knowing this is something I can trust and feel good about. I’ve had some every day since I got it and couldn’t be happier.
THANK YOU!!
I ordered three and also enrolled in the subscription. I gave one of the bottles to a friend of mine, and she simply is in love with this. Honey is the best Honey she’s ever had, and of course, I love it as well. Great taste sweet but not overpowering. It’s perfect.
